Sa Tren Ng Buhay: The Characters of Train to Busan and How They Reflect To Our Huma

Thrillingly unique and purely entertaining. Ilan lang yan sa mga positive reviews ng mga manunuod tungkol sa box-office movie na "Train to Busan". I admit, isa na ako sa mga certified fan ng Korean movie na ito. Di ako masyadong avid viewer ng zombie movies pero I found this film a bit different from the usual plot we see in the Hollywood versions. It's actually beyond the zombie outbreak theme - it tells a story that definitely reflects humanity and society. And that's what I love about this Asian suspense-thriller.

While watching the movie, mage-gets mo na sa simula yung simpleng intro ng background story. Thanks to the English subtitles. May konting art of curiosity kasi first time kong manuod ng zombie movie na Asian ang producer. And I already have this hint in mind (you know, Korean dramas are well-loved in PH) so I expected that this will be worth watching. And to cut it short, hindi ako nabigo. The movie left me astounded. The thrill kept me stuck on my seat. The chasing and screaming and everything was effective (eh kasi napasigaw din ako)! But as the story reached the end, it was like all my senses were brought to a sudden drama. Napaiyak ako sa ending eh. HAHA... The whole movie was a roller-coaster ride of emotions, to be honest.

But apart from the twisting and switching of scenes, tumatak sa isip ko yung mga main characters ng zombie movie na ito. So, I made this list of remarkable characters from the film which I believe na talagang makikita mo sa tunay na buhay, sa sarili mo man o maging sa buong sangkatauhan.

The Selfish-Turned-Selfless Dad

Seok-Woo (Gong Yoo)

Sila yung mga Tatay na kahit hindi successful ang marriage, bumabawi naman sa pag-aaruga ng anak. Yung kahit madalas busy sa trabaho, nagbibigay ng oras para sa ikaliligaya ng anak. Sila yung mga ama ng tahanan who is willing to do anything for their kids kahit na ikapapahamak pa nila. They are the fathers who takes the courage to protect and defend their children till the end

Kim Soo-Ahn (Soo-an)

Sila yung mga anak na kahit hindi buo ang pamilya ay pilit na lumalaban sa mga hamon ng buhay. They are those kids who never lost their character kahit mag-isa lang silang binuhay ng kanilang magulang. They are those children who grew up strong and determined in spite of the obstacles they went through. Sila yung mga anak na madalas umiiyak sa pag-iisa pero bumabangon at umaasa - para sa isang buo at masayang pamilya.

The Unexpected Adversary

Kim Eui-sung (Yong-suk)

Sila yung mga taong madalas na nasa kapangyarihan at may impluwensya sa lipunan. Sila yung mga kontrabida sa ating paglalakbay. They are the most hated character of our life's story. Yung mga pilit nagpapabagsak at umaapi sa atin. Yung kinaiinisan natin dahil masyado silang mapagmataas at minamaliit ang ating mga karapatan. Those people who never play fair. Those who are greedy, those people who take advantage of the poor to achieve their self-seeking interests.

The Fighter Sisters

(Ye Soo-Jung - In-Gil & Park Myung-Shin - Jong-Gil)

Sila naman yung magandang example ng mga taong may matibay na pagsasamahan. Magkadugo o magkaibigan man, sila yung magkaramay at walang iwanan. They are those who have committed themselves to stay together for better or for worst. Those people who remain loyal and faithful no matter what happens. Sila yung mga totoong tao na hindi natin madalas nakakasalamuha sa buhay.

The Teenage Risk-takers

(Choi Woo-Sik - Young-Guk & Ahn Soo-Hee - Jin Hee)

Ito naman sila yung mga kabataang may gustong patunayan. Yung kasapi sa tropang palaban - mapa-lovelife man o kaibigan. They are the generation who doesn't only loves adventure but are willing to cross over the difficulties for the people they love. Sila yung maingay at kwela kasama pero tunay at maaasahan sa panahon ng kagipitan.

The Strong Couple

Jung Yu-Mi - Sung Gyeong & Ma Dong-Seok - Sang-Hwa)

Ito yung mga couples na kahit nagsisimula pa lamang ay talagang sinusubok na ng panahon. Sinubok ng sakit, financial crisis, relationship problems at iba pa. Sila yung mga couples na kahit pumapasan ng madaming problema ay hindi nawawalan ng pag-asa. Sila yung mag-asawang tumitibay sa dasal at panalangin. They remain strong and fighting because they are envisioning a good future for their family.

The Homeless Man

Tinutukoy nito ang mga ordinaryong tao sa lipunan. Bagamat simple, sila'y patuloy na naglalakbay. Sila yung mga kapos at mahirap ngunit iginagapang ang sarili at pamilya para mabuhay. Honestly, they are the most neglected members of the society. They represent the borderline of our community. Sila yung mga nangangailangan ngunit minsan lang nabibigyan ng pansin.

Sa tunay na buhay, marami tayong pinaglalaban at nilalabanan. Mas malupit pa sa zombies at mga flesh-eaters. Ang maaksyong mga tagpo na nakikita natin sa big screen ay nakikita din natin sa realidad kung saan nakataya ang ating mga sarili sa bawat hamon na ating hinaharap. At gaya ng mga pangyayari sa Train To Busan, nasusubok ang ating tunay na pagkatao sa mga pagkakataong tayo'y dumadaan sa mga pagsubok at kalamidad. Ika nga ni Albert Einstein, "Adversity introduces a man to himself".
